As a company who works with a number of local authorities on the supply and fit of their garage doors, we have recently seen a significant increase in this type of customer moving away from the standard white door and opting for something a little more colourful in their battle against graffiti.
By removing what is essentially a blank canvas, it is hoped that the introduction of new coloured doors will help to reduce the amount of graffiti – something that continues to be a constant battle within many communities.
Having recently been approached by Solihull Community Housing for the supply of their new garage doors; they themselves had taken the decision to move away from their usual purchase of white, opting instead for a new coloured door.
The Estate Management Officer at SCH commented “Although traditionally all garage doors were white, this had repercussions for my team, who would be called out to deal with graffiti. In addition to this, it was also noted that the white colour turned a grey as the graffiti was removed with fairly caustic chemicals.”
Following testing to find the most effective new colour to use within the community, Fir Green was decided on due to the Anti-Graffiti Team (AGT) having reported less recurring vandalism in affected areas treated with this colour, as well as the fact that when tested it seemed to blend in well with the local topography whilst also tying in with the corporate colours of the Solihull Community Housing brand.
