Description
Yale 8K116-Br Brown Multi Purpose Door Bolt
Securing your property requires hardware that balances robust engineering with reliable performance. The Yale 8K116-Br Brown Multi Purpose Door Bolt represents a pinnacle of domestic security, offering a straightforward yet highly effective solution for reinforcing entry points throughout your home. Designed to provide a secondary layer of protection, this versatile piece of ironmongery ensures that your doors remain firmly in place when you need them to be.
Doorfit is proud to offer this exceptional product as part of our curated selection of high quality security fittings. Whether you are looking to upgrade an existing setup or add a new layer of defence to a garden gate, cupboard, or internal door, this item provides the structural integrity necessary for peace of mind. Its classic brown finish allows it to blend seamlessly with traditional wood tones, ensuring that your security measures remain subtle while being fully operational.
Understanding the Mechanical Physics of Door Security
The effectiveness of this hardware lies in its simple yet elegant mechanical design. When you engage the bolt, you are creating a physical barrier that resists lateral force and shearing pressure. The internal mechanism is engineered to maintain tension, which prevents the bolt from vibrating open or slipping due to subtle shifts in door alignment over time.
By distributing the load across the strike plate, this equipment ensures that force is not concentrated on a single point. This physical resistance is critical for preventing unauthorised entry, as it forces any potential impact to be absorbed by the surrounding door frame and the bolt housing itself. The precision of the sliding action ensures that the bolt remains seated firmly within the keeper, providing a stable connection that is resistant to environmental stresses such as humidity or temperature fluctuations.
Step by Step Operational Workflow
Operating this item is an intuitive process that has been refined for daily convenience. To secure the door, you simply grip the ergonomic knob and slide the bolt forward into the corresponding strike plate. The tactile feedback provided by the mechanism lets you know exactly when the bolt is fully seated in the locked position, removing any guesswork regarding the security status of the door.
When you need to access the area, the movement is equally fluid. A slight lateral pull draws the bolt back into the housing, allowing the door to swing freely. This design is particularly useful for busy households where convenience is just as important as security. The smooth operation prevents the hardware from catching or jamming, which significantly reduces the physical effort required to operate it on a daily basis.
Ergonomics and Safety Compliance
We believe that security should never come at the cost of ease of use. The design of this bolt takes into account the importance of ergonomic accessibility, ensuring that individuals of all ages can operate the device without excessive strain. The smooth finish and rounded edges of the handle prevent snagging on clothing and ensure that the user can apply the necessary force without discomfort.
Furthermore, using high quality, properly installed hardware contributes to a safer living environment. By ensuring that your doors are securely fastened, you reduce the risk of accidental openings or unauthorised access. This bolt complies with standard safety expectations for residential hardware, providing a reliable barrier that helps maintain the integrity of your home security plan.
Long Term Commercial Value and Durability
Investing in Yale 8K116-Br Brown Multi Purpose Door Bolt is a strategic decision for any homeowner or property manager. When you choose premium hardware, you are effectively reducing the total cost of ownership over the lifespan of the property. Cheap, poorly manufactured bolts often suffer from metal fatigue, corrosion, or mechanical failure, which leads to frequent replacements and the associated labour costs.
Expert Tip: Regular maintenance, such as a light application of silicone-based lubricant, will ensure that the sliding action remains smooth for years to come. This simple step preserves the finish and prevents the internal components from grinding under friction.
By opting for a brand with a reputation like Yale, you are selecting a product that has been tested against the rigours of daily use. This durability means that the hardware will continue to function correctly long after cheaper alternatives have failed. Protecting your assets from loss or damage is the primary goal of any security installation, and this bolt provides a cost-effective way to achieve that objective without requiring expensive electronic systems.
Versatility Across Different Applications
The beauty of this product lies in its adaptability. While many assume that a bolt is only for front doors, this model is perfectly suited for a wide range of applications throughout the home. You can use it to secure garden sheds, ensuring that your tools and equipment are kept safe from the elements and potential theft. It is equally effective for securing internal cupboards, such as those used for storage of cleaning supplies or private documents.
The brown finish is a significant aesthetic advantage, as it complements a variety of door colours and textures. Whether you have a rustic oak door or a painted timber frame, this hardware adds a touch of professional finish. Its compact footprint also means that it can be installed in tight spaces where larger locks or deadbolts would simply not fit, providing a versatile solution for every room in the house.
