Description
Abus 37RK 70mm Granit Plus Open Shackle Padlock
We all have things that matter deeply to us. Whether it is a high-value piece of machinery stored in a remote warehouse, a container filled with expensive tools, or the main gate to your industrial site, the feeling of vulnerability is something every property owner knows well. You need peace of mind that when you lock up for the night, your belongings will still be there when you return. This is exactly why the Abus 37RK 70mm Granit Plus Open Shackle Padlock was developed. It is designed for those moments when standard, off-the-shelf security simply will not cut it.
When you choose a padlock, you are not just buying a piece of metal. You are investing in a barrier between your hard-earned assets and those who might want to take them. The reality of modern security is that determined individuals have access to powerful tools, such as bolt cutters and heavy-duty saws. Standard padlocks often fail within seconds against these methods. That is where this German-engineered solution steps in. It provides the kind of robust, heavy-duty protection that forces even the most determined opportunist to look elsewhere.
Unrivalled Tensile Strength
The core of this padlock is its incredible ability to withstand sheer physical force. With a tensile resistance of over six tonnes, the internal locking mechanism is designed to keep the shackle firmly in place, no matter how much force is applied to the lock body. This means that pulling or yanking the shackle to force it open is effectively impossible. It is a reassuring feeling to know that your security is built on a foundation of hardened alloy steel that refuses to bend under pressure.
Advanced Anti-Pick Technology
It is not just about brute force. Modern security threats also include sophisticated manipulation, such as lock picking. The Abus 37RK 70mm Granit Plus Open Shackle Padlock features the renowned Abus Plus disc cylinder system. This specific mechanism is widely regarded as one of the most effective ways to prevent lock manipulation. It is designed to be incredibly difficult for even experienced hands to pick, ensuring that the lock remains closed until you decide otherwise.
Resistance Against Violent Attacks
Even if someone attempts to drill through the lock to reach the internal cylinder, they will find a formidable obstacle waiting for them. A hardened steel plate is positioned directly in front of the cylinder opening. This acts as a shield, preventing drill bits from gaining any traction or causing damage to the internal components. By combining this drill resistance with the overall durability of the lock body, you get a product that is prepared for almost any scenario.
Built for the Toughest Environments
- The lock body and the shackle are both constructed from high-quality hardened alloy steel to ensure maximum durability.
- Every unit is coated in a special black Granit finish, which provides exceptional protection against rust and corrosion, even in harsh weather conditions.
- The padlock is fully tested to withstand extreme temperatures, successfully passing impact and freeze tests down to minus forty degrees.
- Each padlock is supplied with two keys, one of which includes a helpful LED light to make opening the lock easy in low light or during the dark winter months.
- The design is officially certified to CEN Class 5, meaning it meets the stringent requirements set by European standards for high-security hardware.
Where Should You Use This Padlock
Because this padlock is built to such a high standard, it is the ideal choice for high-risk areas. If you are securing a property that contains expensive equipment, or if you are working in an industrial setting where insurance compliance is a factor, this is the lock you need. It is perfectly suited for locking up factory gates, securing shipping containers, or protecting lorries while they are parked overnight. Because it is so resistant to the elements, you can confidently use it outdoors without worrying that rain or damp air will compromise its performance.
If you have valuable goods that require the highest level of protection, you really should not settle for anything less than the Granit series. It is professional-grade security for those who cannot afford to take risks with their property.

Why German Engineering Matters
There is a reason why German manufacturing is respected across the globe. It is the attention to detail and the commitment to quality control that sets these products apart. When you purchase the Abus 37RK 70mm Granit Plus Open Shackle Padlock, you are receiving a piece of equipment that has been manufactured in accordance with some of the strictest European standards in the industry. Every component is checked to ensure it meets the criteria for high-security applications, giving you the confidence that your purchase is a long-term investment in your safety.
A Note on Insurance Requirements
Many insurance policies for businesses and high-value home storage specify that approved locks must be used to validate a claim. Using a generic, low-grade padlock can sometimes lead to complications if the worst happens. By choosing a CEN Class 5 certified lock, you are demonstrating a commitment to security that satisfies the requirements of most insurance companies. It is a simple step you can take to ensure that you are fully protected in every sense of the word.
