Description
Abus 65HB 40 X 63 Brass Padlock Long Shackle
We have all been there. You head out to the garden shed to grab your tools, or perhaps you reach for your bike in the garage, only to find that your current locking solution has rusted shut or feels flimsy enough to be opened with a light tug. Securing your belongings should not be a cause for concern. Whether you are locking up a gate, a locker at the gym, or a cellar window, you need a lock that you can truly rely on without having to fuss with it every single day. That is exactly where the Abus 65HB 40 X 63 Brass Padlock Long Shackle comes into play.
At Doorfit, we understand that peace of mind is priceless. When you choose a padlock, you are not just buying a piece of metal, you are investing in the security of your property. This particular model from the renowned ABUS 65 series is designed to bridge the gap between heavy duty security and everyday convenience. It is robust, it is weather resistant, and it is built to last for years to come. By choosing a brand with a global reputation like ABUS, you are opting for quality engineering that has been tested across countless environments around the world.
Why brass is the gold standard for your locks
You might wonder why we keep recommending brass padlocks for general use. The answer is quite simple. Brass is a fantastic material because it is naturally resistant to rust. In the unpredictable British weather, where rain and dampness are almost guaranteed, having a lock that will not seize up or corrode is essential. Because brass does not rust, you can confidently use this padlock outdoors for sheds, gates, and storage boxes without worrying that it will become a permanent, immovable fixture after the first winter.
The Abus 65HB 40 X 63 Brass Padlock Long Shackle takes this inherent advantage and builds upon it with high quality internal components. Everything inside the lock is crafted from non corrosive materials, ensuring that the locking mechanism remains smooth and reliable even after being exposed to the elements for a long time. It is a set and forget solution for your home security needs.
Built for strength and longevity
While the solid brass body provides the foundation, the shackle is where the real strength lies. This model features a hardened steel shackle that has been treated with a special NANO PROTECT coating. This extra layer of defence helps the shackle withstand physical attacks and environmental wear far better than standard steel. It is this combination of a soft, rust proof body and a hard, resilient shackle that makes the Abus 65HB 40 X 63 so effective.
The internal mechanics are just as impressive. It uses a precision pin tumbler cylinder which is designed to resist tampering. The inclusion of mushroom counter pins adds another layer of security, making it significantly harder for anyone to manipulate the lock. When you hear that satisfying click of the automatic locking mechanism, you can walk away knowing that your gate or cupboard is properly secured.
Practical features for your everyday life
- The solid brass body ensures the lock remains rust free even when used in challenging outdoor conditions.
- The hardened steel shackle includes a NANO PROTECT coating to provide superior resistance against both physical force and corrosion.
- All internal components are constructed from non corrosive materials to keep the mechanism operating smoothly for years.
- The precision pin tumbler cylinder is equipped with mushroom counter pins to guard against lock manipulation.
- The automatic locking mechanism means you do not need to use the key to lock the shackle into place.
- This model is non key retaining, allowing you to remove the key once the lock is opened.
- Every unit comes supplied with two keys, so you have a spare should you misplace one.
- The extended 63mm shackle height provides the extra reach needed for thicker doors or chains.
Where can you use this padlock
The versatility of the Abus 65HB 40 X 63 Brass Padlock Long Shackle is one of its greatest assets. Because it is a general purpose padlock, it is perfectly suited for a wide variety of domestic and light commercial applications. You will find it works brilliantly for securing garden sheds, side gates, and cellar windows. It is also an excellent choice for keeping your tool boxes safe in the garage or securing lockers at work or the gym.
If you have a chain that needs to be looped through a gate, the long shackle on this model provides that extra bit of clearance that standard padlocks often lack. This makes it much easier to position the lock correctly without scratching your paintwork or struggling with awkward angles. Whether you are protecting a switchboard, a storage cupboard, or just keeping your bike chain secure, this lock is up to the task.
