Description
Simplex 919 (NL200) Digital Rim Mounted Deadlocking Nightlatch
We have all been there. You are rushing out of the house with your hands full of shopping bags or perhaps you are heading to the gym and you suddenly realise that you have left your front door keys sitting on the kitchen table. It is one of those small daily frustrations that can turn a perfectly good morning into a stressful scramble. For many of us, the traditional metal key has become a bit of a nuisance. They are easy to lose, they can be difficult to manage when you are carrying heavy items, and keeping track of who has a spare copy can feel like a full time job. This is exactly where the Simplex 919 (NL200) Digital Rim Mounted Deadlocking Nightlatch comes into its own as a reliable solution for the modern home.
At Doorfit, we understand that your front door is the most important barrier between your private sanctuary and the outside world. You want something that provides total peace of mind without making your life complicated. This digital nightlatch removes the need for physical keys entirely, allowing you to secure your home using a simple code. It is designed to be robust, weather resistant, and incredibly user friendly, making it a fantastic upgrade for anyone looking to modernise their home security setup without needing to replace their entire door system.
Why choose a keyless digital solution
The beauty of a digital lock is the sheer convenience it brings to your daily routine. With the Simplex 919 (NL200) Digital Rim Mounted Deadlocking Nightlatch, you no longer need to worry about hiding keys under doormats or leaving them with neighbours when you go on holiday. You simply tap in your chosen personal code, and the door unlocks. It is a seamless experience that feels secure and modern.
Beyond the convenience, there is the added benefit of controlled access. If you have a cleaner, a dog walker, or family members who visit often, you do not need to cut multiple copies of keys that could end up lost or stolen. You can simply share the code with the people you trust. If your circumstances change, you can update the code quickly and easily, ensuring that your security remains tight and personal to you. It is a clever, flexible way to manage your home entry points.
Engineered for strength and durability
When you invest in a locking mechanism, you want to know that it is going to last. The Simplex 919 is built with a focus on longevity. Being a rim mounted unit, it is designed to sit neatly on the inside face of your door, making it a popular choice for timber doors where a traditional nightlatch might already be present. The construction is solid and designed to withstand the daily wear and tear that comes with constant use.
One of the standout features of this model is its deadlocking functionality. A standard latch is great for keeping a door closed, but a deadlocking nightlatch adds an extra layer of security by preventing the latch from being pushed back or manipulated. This is an essential feature for front doors where you want to ensure that once the door is shut, it is truly locked and secure against intruders.
- The push button interface is intuitive and easy to use for all ages, from children coming home from school to elderly relatives visiting for tea.
- The mechanical design means you do not need to worry about batteries running flat or complex wiring systems that require an electrician to install.
- The finish is designed to be durable and resistant to the British weather, ensuring that it keeps its smart appearance even after years of exposure.
- You can set your own unique entry code, which gives you complete control over who has access to your property at any given time.
- The compact design ensures it fits discreetly on most standard doors without looking out of place or clashing with your existing door furniture.
- Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic DIY skills, though we always recommend professional assistance if you are unsure about your door thickness or frame alignment.
Practical applications for your property
While this unit is a brilliant choice for your main front door, it is also incredibly useful for other areas of the home or business premises. If you have an office, a garden shed containing expensive tools, or a garage that connects to your house, the Simplex 919 (NL200) Digital Rim Mounted Deadlocking Nightlatch provides a high level of security that is much more effective than a simple padlock. It is also a popular choice for holiday lets or shared accommodation where you need to provide access to guests without the risk of them making unauthorised copies of your keys.
The rim mounted design is particularly helpful because it does not require you to cut deep holes into your door, which can sometimes weaken the timber. Instead, it mounts directly to the surface, making it an excellent retrofit option for older properties where you might want to upgrade security without ruining the character of your original doors.

Maintaining your digital lock
One of the best things about this system is how little maintenance it actually requires. Because it is a purely mechanical device, you do not have to worry about software updates or digital glitches. However, like any piece of door hardware, a little bit of care goes a long way. We suggest giving the keypad a quick wipe down with a soft, damp cloth every now and again to remove any dust or grime. It is also good practice to check the mounting screws once a year to ensure everything remains tight and secure. If you live in a coastal area where salt air can be a bit harsh on hardware, a light spray with a silicone based lubricant can help keep the internal mechanisms moving smoothly for many years to come.
