Description
Union L2141 Oval Deadlock 63mm Satin Chrome
When you are looking for a reliable way to secure your home or office, the hardware you choose makes all the difference. We all want to feel safe when we close our doors at night, and that is where the Union L2141 Oval Deadlock 63mm Satin Chrome comes into play. It is a straightforward, robust piece of engineering designed to do one job extremely well. Whether you are fitting out a new office space or upgrading the security on your internal wooden doors, this deadlock provides a solid layer of protection that you can rely on day in and day out.
Choosing the right lock can sometimes feel like a bit of a chore, especially with so many options on the market. However, this specific model from Union is a classic choice for a reason. It is built to be simple to operate, easy to install for a professional, and incredibly durable once it is in place. By choosing a high-quality product, you are investing in peace of mind. You will not have to worry about the lock sticking or failing when you need it most, and the clean satin chrome finish ensures it looks smart on any door frame.
Built for Daily Reliability
The primary function of any deadlock is to provide a secure point of closure. This model uses a high-grade brass deadbolt that includes hardened steel rollers. These rollers are a clever addition because they help to prevent the bolt from being cut or sawn through by anyone trying to tamper with the door. It is these small but important engineering details that set a quality lock apart from cheaper alternatives. When you turn the key, you can feel the precision of the mechanism working exactly as it should.
Because it is designed for timber doors, it is perfect for both residential and light commercial settings. Whether you have doors that are hinged on the left or the right side, this lock is fully reversible. This versatility means you do not have to stress about which way your door swings, making the installation process much smoother for your carpenter or locksmith. It is all about making your life easier while maintaining a high standard of security.
Key Features You Can Count On
- The brass deadbolt features hardened steel rollers to provide added resistance against forced entry attempts.
- You get a smooth 12mm bolt throw that ensures the door stays firmly locked in place when engaged.
- The finish is a stylish satin chrome which offers a contemporary look and excellent resistance to corrosion over time.
- Every lock comes with a matching striking plate that ensures a clean and professional finish on your door frame.
- This model is assessed for use on 60 minute fire doors under EN 1634-1 standards, which is vital for safety compliance in many buildings.
- The operation is simple and intuitive, allowing for quick locking and unlocking with an oval profile cylinder or turn.
Why Choose a Satin Chrome Finish
Many of our customers often ask why they should choose satin chrome over other finishes. The answer is quite simple. Satin chrome is incredibly practical for high-traffic areas because it does not show fingerprints or minor scratches as easily as polished or bright finishes. It has a subtle, modern aesthetic that blends beautifully with almost any interior design style. Whether your doors are painted white, stained oak, or finished in a dark veneer, the Union L2141 Oval Deadlock 63mm Satin Chrome provides a sophisticated touch that looks great for years.
Beyond the look, the plating process ensures that the metal underneath is protected from the elements. Even in homes or offices where humidity might be a slight issue, this finish holds up well without tarnishing or losing its lustre. It is a low-maintenance solution that keeps your door hardware looking professional without requiring constant polishing.
Practical Applications and Suitability
This deadlock is specifically designed for timber doors. It is a fantastic choice for internal doors where you need a bit more security than a standard latch can provide. Think of study doors, home offices, or storage cupboards where you keep important documents or valuable items. Because it is fire-rated, it is also a popular choice for office buildings and communal areas where safety regulations require specific hardware on fire-rated doors.
We always recommend that you double-check the dimensions of your door before purchasing. While this is a standard size, wooden doors can vary in thickness. If you are replacing an existing lock, measure the current mortice cutout to ensure a good fit. If you find that the existing hole is slightly different, a skilled carpenter can easily adjust the timber to accommodate the 65mm case size and the 44.5mm backset.

Installation Advice and Support
Installing a mortice lock is a task that requires a bit of precision. If you are comfortable with woodworking tools, you might be able to tackle this yourself. However, we always suggest using a professional locksmith or carpenter if you are at all unsure. A lock that is fitted perfectly will operate smoothly for decades, whereas a poorly fitted lock can cause the mechanism to bind or wear out prematurely. Always ensure the mortice is clean of wood shavings before inserting the lock case for the best results.
