Description
Union L2249 Euro Sashlock 76mm Satin Chrome
We all know the frustration of a door that does not quite latch properly or a lock that feels flimsy when you turn the key. Your home or office security is not just about keeping unwanted visitors out, it is about that peace of mind you feel when you pull the door shut at the end of a long day. If you are looking to upgrade your internal or external timber doors, the Union L2249 Euro Sashlock 76mm Satin Chrome is a reliable choice that balances robust British engineering with a clean, modern aesthetic.
This mortice lock is designed to handle the daily wear and tear of a busy household or a professional workspace. Whether you are fitting new doors throughout a renovation project or simply replacing a tired, sticking lock mechanism, this unit offers the smooth operation and durability that the Union name is famous for. It is a workhorse of a lock, providing the perfect combination of a secure deadbolt for locking and a spring-loaded latch for keeping the door closed during normal use.
Why choose this specific sashlock
When you are shopping for door hardware, it is easy to get lost in the technical jargon, but the benefits of this particular model are quite straightforward. The first thing you will notice is the build quality. The internal components are crafted from brass, which is a fantastic material for locks because it resists wear over time, ensuring that your handle stays firm and your key turns smoothly for years to come. The satin chrome finish provides a contemporary look that hides fingerprints and scuffs far better than polished alternatives, making it an excellent choice for high-traffic areas.
Security is naturally at the forefront of the design. The deadbolt is reinforced with hardened steel rollers. This is a clever feature because if someone were to attempt to saw through the bolt, the rollers spin, which makes it incredibly difficult for a blade to gain any traction. It is this attention to detail that makes the Union L2249 Euro Sashlock 76mm Satin Chrome a dependable guardian for your property.
Practical features for your peace of mind
- The brass latch bolt is fully reversible, meaning you can easily adjust it to suit doors that are hinged on either the left or the right side.
- The deadbolt includes hardened steel rollers to add an extra layer of protection against physical attacks on the lock mechanism.
- The internal follower is made from durable brass and is designed to fit a standard 8mm square spindle, ensuring your handles feel solid and responsive.
- The forend and striking plate are finished in a high-quality satin chrome to provide a seamless and professional look on your door frame.
- This lock has been assessed for use on 60 minute fire doors under EN 1634-1 standards, giving you confidence in its performance during an emergency.
- Each unit is backed by a 10 year guarantee, which reflects the manufacturer's confidence in the longevity and reliability of their hardware.
Suitability and installation advice
This sashlock is intended for use with timber doors. Because it is a euro profile lock, you have the flexibility to choose the type of cylinder that best fits your security needs. Whether you want a thumb turn for easy exit on the inside or a double cylinder for keyed access from both sides, this lock will accommodate your preference. It is a versatile solution for office doors, bedroom doors, or even utility cupboards where you need a little extra privacy and security.
Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic joinery skills. The case is designed to fit neatly into the mortice cut out, and the faceplate is shaped to sit flush against the edge of the door. Because the latch is reversible, you do not need to worry about purchasing a specific handed lock. Simply remove the latch, rotate it, and slot it back into place. It is this type of thoughtful design that saves you time and stress during the fitting process.
