Description
Yale 77 60mm Traditional Nightlatch Bronze/SC
We all know that feeling of rushing out of the house in the morning. Whether you are heading to work, popping to the shops, or simply running a quick errand, you want the peace of mind that your home is secure the moment you pull the front door shut. Many of us have struggled with modern, complicated locking systems that feel like they require a degree in engineering just to operate. That is why the classic design remains so popular today. It offers a simple, reliable, and effective way to ensure your property stays safe while remaining incredibly easy to use on a daily basis.
At Doorfit, we believe that security should be straightforward. The Yale 77 60mm Traditional Nightlatch Bronze/SC is a perfect example of a design that has stood the test of time for a very good reason. It does exactly what you need it to do without any unnecessary fuss. When you return home, you simply use your key from the outside, or if you are already inside, you just turn the lever handle to head out. It is the kind of reliable hardware that sits on your door for years, doing its job quietly and effectively so you can get on with your day.
The original design you can trust
When you choose this particular model, you are opting for the original Yale lock design. There is a reason this shape and style have become synonymous with home security across the United Kingdom. It is robust, it is familiar, and it is built to last. The enamel nickel bronze body gives it a timeless, classic look that suits traditional wooden doors perfectly, while the satin chrome cylinder adds a neat, professional finish that blends well with modern door furniture.
This lock is designed to make your life easier through clever, practical features that you will actually use. One of the standout elements is the snib function. If you have ever been frustrated by having to use a key every single time you step into the garden or pop to the bin, you will love this. The snib allows you to hold back the latch, keeping the door unlocked for when you are moving in and out frequently. Alternatively, you can use the snib to deadlock the door from the inside. This is a brilliant feature for when you are settling in for the evening, as it makes the lock inoperable by a key from the outside, giving you that extra sense of comfort and safety while you sleep.
Why choose the Yale 77 for your home
- This lock provides the classic, reliable security that Yale is famous for, ensuring your home remains protected day and night.
- The integrated snib button allows you to deadlock the door from the inside, which prevents the lock from being opened by a key from the outside.
- You can use the convenient hold back function to keep the latch retracted, making it much easier to move in and out of the house without needing your keys.
- Every unit comes supplied with the high-quality Yale 1109 cylinder, giving you a complete security package right out of the box.
- The latchbolt is easily reversible on site, which means you do not have to worry about the handing of your door before you make your purchase.
- You will receive two keys with your order, allowing you to have a spare immediately or keep one for a family member.
Practical applications and suitability
One of the most common questions we get at Doorfit is whether a particular lock will fit an existing door. The Yale 77 60mm Traditional Nightlatch is incredibly versatile. It is suitable for both left and right-handed doors, which takes the stress out of choosing the right configuration. As long as your door is inward opening and has a thickness of up to 57mm, this lock will be a fantastic fit for your home. It is primarily designed for timber doors, making it the ideal choice for traditional front doors that require a reliable, surface-mounted locking solution.
Because the latchbolt is reversible, you have the flexibility to install it exactly how you need it on the day of fitting. Whether you are replacing an old, tired lock or fitting one for the first time, the installation process is well-documented and straightforward for anyone with basic DIY skills. If you are ever unsure about the technical requirements of your specific door, our team is always here to offer a bit of guidance.
