Description
Yale PBS1 60mm High Security Nightlatch BS3621 Brasslux
We all want to feel completely safe and sound when we are tucked up in bed at night or heading away for a well-earned holiday. There is nothing quite as unsettling as worrying about the security of your front door. If you have ever felt that your current lock is a little flimsy or perhaps you are worried that it might not meet the strict requirements of your home insurance policy, you are definitely not alone. Many older homes have doors that simply cannot accommodate a heavy mortice lock, leaving homeowners feeling a bit stuck for options. That is where the Yale PBS1 60mm High Security Nightlatch comes into play as a brilliant, reliable solution for your home.
This lock is designed to take the stress out of home security by providing robust, insurance-rated protection that is easy to use every single day. It is a fantastic choice for those who need that extra peace of mind without having to compromise on the appearance of their front door. With its beautiful Brasslux finish, it adds a touch of classic elegance to your entrance while working hard behind the scenes to keep unwanted visitors out. Whether you are replacing an old, tired lock or upgrading to meet modern security standards, this nightlatch offers the perfect blend of strength and convenience.
Why You Need Insurance Approved Security
One of the biggest concerns for any homeowner is ensuring that their security measures actually satisfy their insurance provider. Many policies now stipulate that your external doors must be fitted with locks that meet the British Standard BS3621. If your lock does not meet this grade, you might find yourself in a tricky situation should you ever need to make a claim. By choosing this Yale nightlatch, you are ticking all the right boxes. It has been rigorously tested to reach this high standard, meaning it is officially recognised by insurance companies as a premium security device.
Beyond the insurance benefits, this product is also Secured by Design approved. This means it is recommended by the police for its ability to resist common methods of forced entry. When you choose this lock, you are not just buying a piece of hardware. You are investing in a product that has been engineered to stand up to the techniques that burglars often use, such as drilling, picking, or the old-fashioned credit card trick. It provides a level of comfort that allows you to relax in your own home, knowing that your first line of defence is truly up to the task.
Advanced Features for Your Peace of Mind
The Yale PBS1 60mm High Security Nightlatch is packed with clever engineering features that make it stand out from the crowd. It is not just about having a strong bolt. It is about the entire system working together to ensure your door stays firmly shut.
- The 20mm anti-saw bolt is designed to resist physical attacks, ensuring that even if someone tries to cut through it, the bolt holds firm.
- The high security TS007 one star rim cylinder is included as standard, providing a robust barrier against common lock manipulation techniques.
- You get complete protection against drilling, picking, and bumping, which are the most common ways that standard locks are defeated.
- The automatic deadlocking feature is a real game changer because it ensures the door is locked securely the moment you close it behind you.
- There is an internal lockable handle that allows you to secure the door from the inside, providing an extra layer of safety when you are home alone.
- The push button functionality allows you to hold back the latch, which is incredibly useful when you are popping in and out of the house to bring in the shopping.
Perfect for Your Home
We know that every door is different, which is why the versatility of this nightlatch is so important. The 60mm backset is a very common size, making it a straightforward choice for replacing many existing front door locks. It is particularly well suited for panelled doors, which are very common in traditional British homes. If you have a door with glass panels, this lock is an excellent choice because the internal handle can be deadlocked with a quick turn of the key. This prevents someone from breaking the glass and simply reaching inside to turn the handle and open your door.
The operation is designed to be as smooth as possible for your daily routine. When you leave the house, the door automatically deadlocks as it closes, so you never have to worry if you remembered to lock up. From the outside, you simply use your key to gain entry. Once you are inside, you can use the key or the internal lever handle to lock the door. The dark red snib function is a clever little addition that lets you hold the latch back, so you do not accidentally lock yourself out while you are just nipping into the garden or moving furniture.
