Description
Yale PBS2 40mm High Security Nightlatch BS3621 DMG/PB
We all know that feeling when you pull your front door shut behind you. You want to walk away with total peace of mind, knowing that your home is properly protected against unwanted visitors. Unfortunately, many standard locks found on front doors today simply do not provide the level of security that insurance companies require or that your family deserves. If you have a narrow door frame or a door with glass panels, finding a robust lock that fits perfectly can feel like a bit of a headache. That is where the Yale PBS2 40mm High Security Nightlatch BS3621 DMG/PB comes into its own.
This lock is designed specifically for those who need high-level security but cannot fit a traditional mortice lock. Whether you are upgrading your current setup to meet modern insurance standards or you are worried about the vulnerability of an older lock, this Yale nightlatch provides a professional solution. It is built to be tough, reliable, and incredibly easy to use on a daily basis. At Doorfit, we believe your home should be your sanctuary, and this lock is a significant step towards ensuring it stays that way.
Why choose this high security nightlatch for your home
When you choose a lock for your front door, you need to know it has been tested against the most common methods of forced entry. Many cheaper locks on the market are susceptible to simple techniques like bumping or picking, which can be done in seconds by someone with the wrong intentions. The Yale PBS2 is different. It has been rigorously tested to meet British Standard BS3621, which is the benchmark for security that most home insurance providers now insist upon. If you ever need to make a claim, having a lock that carries this certification can make the process much smoother.
Beyond the insurance benefits, the build quality is immediately noticeable. It features a 20mm anti-saw bolt that provides exceptional strength, making it very difficult for someone to cut through the mechanism. It also includes advanced protection against drilling, picking, and bumping. This means that even if someone tries to manipulate the cylinder, the lock is designed to resist their efforts. It provides a level of comfort that allows you to sleep soundly at night and leave your house during the day without a second thought.
Key features that provide total peace of mind
- The lock features an automatic deadlocking mechanism that engages the moment you close your door to prevent the bolt from being retracted by a credit card or similar tool.
- It comes supplied with a high security TS007 one star six pin rim cylinder which offers excellent resistance to common burglary methods like snapping or bumping.
- The internal side of the lock features a secure locking handle that can be deadlocked with a key from the inside to provide extra protection against forced entry through glass panels.
- An integrated push button allows you to hold the latch back if you are popping in and out of the house and do not want the door to lock automatically behind you.
- The 40mm backset is specifically designed for narrow styles and is ideal for replacing existing locks on panelled doors where space might be limited.
- The dark red snib function is highly visible and clearly indicates when the latch is held back, ensuring you never accidentally leave your house unlocked.
- You receive two keys with your purchase, which are precision cut to work perfectly with the high security rim cylinder provided in the box.
- The attractive dark metallic grey body combined with the polished brass cylinder offers a stylish and modern appearance for any front door.
Practical applications for your property
One of the best things about this specific model is its versatility. Because it is a 40mm backset, it is perfectly suited for doors where a larger lock would simply not fit. This is very common in older properties or homes with decorative panelled doors where the wooden frame is quite slim. If you have been told by a locksmith that you cannot fit a high security lock because your door is too narrow, this product is almost certainly the solution you have been searching for.
Furthermore, if your door has glass panels, you have likely worried about someone breaking the glass to reach in and turn the handle. This Yale nightlatch addresses that risk directly. Because you can deadlock the internal handle using your key from the inside, even if someone manages to reach through a broken pane of glass, they will be unable to turn the handle to open your door. This dual layer of security makes it a fantastic choice for those who value safety above all else.
Technical specifications and standards
We understand that when you are buying security hardware, the technical details matter. You need to know that the product is certified and fit for purpose. The Yale PBS2 is not just a strong lock, it is a fully accredited piece of hardware that meets the highest standards in the industry.

Expert advice for your installation
Fitting a lock is a task that requires precision, especially when you are dealing with a British Standard product that needs to align perfectly to function correctly. While many of our customers are confident with DIY, we always recommend ensuring that your door frame is in good condition before you start the installation process. If the wood around the existing lock is damaged or rotten, even the strongest lock will not be able to do its job properly. If you are ever in doubt, there is no shame in calling in a professional locksmith to ensure the job is done to the required standard.
The Yale PBS2 40mm High Security Nightlatch BS3621 DMG/PB is designed to be a long-term investment. With a ten-year guarantee, you can be confident that this is a product built to last. It is not just about the strength of the steel or the complexity of the cylinder, but about the reliability of the mechanism over thousands of cycles. When you choose Yale, you are choosing a brand that has been synonymous with home security for generations, and this particular model continues that proud tradition of excellence.
